According to TIME magazine, Dominica is one of the world’s greatest places. The magazine recently released its third annual list which shares 50 extraordinary destinations around the world. This is an encouraging achievement for the island, which is one of the best eco and nature destinations in the world.

TIME’s annual list is an exciting publication that is compiled with the assistance of their correspondents and contributors. The magazine solicits nominations of different places such as countries, cities and towns which offer unique and different experiences.

Dominica’s Minister of Tourism, the Honourable Denise Charles, is proud of the island and its advancement in tourism. She sees the island’s inclusion in the list as a “testament to the culture, natural beauty, and wonders Dominica has to offer travellers.”

Why Dominica is One of the World’s Greatest Places

Dominica is one the world’s greatest places because it has many unique vacation experiences. Many of these experiences meet the needs of alternative tourism travellers who are eager for activities that appeal to them. Examples include going on scenic hikes, walks and canyoning; visiting waterfalls, hot springs and lakes; participating in cultural events and festivals; partaking in diving and water sports; and going whale and dolphin watching tours.

The World’s Greatest Places list also highlights Coulibri Ridge, an off-grid luxury resort in Dominica. The resort is the fruition of over 20 years of research, testing and consultation. It is located on the top of a mountain ridge in the Soufriere area and is surrounded by 200 acres of tropical greenery. According to Dominique Marchand, General Manager of the resort, the recognition of the resort “validates the power of sustainable tourism and nature-inspired luxury.”

The Waitukubuli Sea Trail is also featured by the magazine. This trail is a relatively new experience for hikers, adventurers and people who love the outdoors. The trail is the ultimate hiking experience in the Caribbean because it runs the entire length of Dominica.
