The enhancement project at Pinney’s Beach in Nevis is complete and ready to welcome locals and visitors. The 16-month project at the beach, which is located west of the Malcolm Guishard Recreational Park, has transformed the area into a vibrant beachfront location for business, leisure and entertainment.
There were several guests at the ribbon cutting ceremony to signal the completion of the project. One of them was Mr. John Hanley, Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Tourism in Nevis. He celebrated and praised the collaborative efforts that went into the transformation as 16 months of dedicated work.
Pinney’s Beach Upgrade Project
Michael Perkins, Project Manager said that the project start date was December 2022 and the completion date was August 2024. It was completed ahead of schedule at a cost of USD 3.3 million dollars. The budget included spending on modern smart lighting and electronic systems, landscaping, expanded CCTv infrastructure and drainage.
Mr. Perkins further explained that the vision for the project was to create a space that for the community. ““Whether it’s Sunday after church, a weekend gathering, or a weekday escape, this space was designed as a safe and attractive environment for our community to enjoy.”
His Excellency Michael Lin, Republic of China (Taiwan)’s Resident Ambassador to St. Kitts and Nevis is proud of the support for the “unique eco-tourism project.” He said that they are “turning Pinney’s Beach to be as practical as it is beautiful, ensuring the ease and comfort for all who visit.” His Excellency further stressed that their “aim is to ensure that everyone can enjoy Pinney’s Beach with peace of mind.” Funding for the project was provided in part by ROC Taiwan, which contributed to phases one and two.
